K9 Returns

Just a quick entry to welcome to return of K9 in last night's Doctor Who episode "School Reunion".

It was a great story, although it did remind me of why K9 became a problem - it's too easy to use him to get the Doctor out of a tricky situation. But overall very well written, the buzz between Rose and Sarah-Jane was especially good. David Tennant's first series looks like being a classic.

You can find out more about K9 at my K9 page.

Mike Myers vs The Robots

It's reported that a new robot movie is in the works, to star Mike Myers.

The new Paramount film is a comedy called "How To Survive a Robot Uprising", based on the book of the same title written by Daniel H. Wilson. The original book is subtitled: "Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion".

Although the book is light-hearted, Wilson knows his stuff - he's a doctoral candidate at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University.

Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant are writing the script for the film in which Myers will play a technician charged with monitoring the rise of the robots and keeping them under control.

Robot Hazing Scandal

I just have to share this wonderful spoof from The Onion:

MIT Fraternity Accused Of Robot Hazing

It describes an alleged "robot hazing" incident at MIT which left one pledgebot missing and two others in critical condition!

Welcome fellow robot fans (is "robophile" a real word?). On this blog I'm going to indulge my love of all things robotic. I'll cover "serious" news - technology, industrial robotics, etc - but my main interest is the "fun" stuff. Household robots, robotic pets, that sort of cool stuff. Enjoy.
